All our crew members are volunteer firefighters for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.
We come from many and diverse backgrounds to serve the community.
Our Brigade plays an integral role in the management of Katoomba Street during the Winter Magic Festival.
It has been estimated that up to 50,000 are drawn to this event, and it requires carefully planned and strategic placement of crews to ensure the safety of everyone there.
While we are keeping an eye on the festivities, it’s a perfect time for you to come and talk to us about joining our Brigade and we encourage you to do so.
South Katoomba RFB meets regularly for training and briefings.
You will usually find us at the shed most Saturday mornings, and Wednesday nights from 7.00 to 9.00pm. Other times by appointment.
Meet members, inspect the shed and start the joining procedure.
It is better to avoid the shed when we are involved in an incident as our priority will be to ensure all our resources are correctly and efficiently deployed.
